Patch strain sensor for composite structures

The Composite Patch Strain Sensor is a fiber optic strain gauge sensor specially designed for detecting defects in composite material. The sensor is embedded within the structure to measure the strain changes. Thanks to this, the composite sensor enables you to minimize the detectable damage size and keep the critical parts of the structure under constant supervision.

Since the sensor does not need the power supply, it easily monitors places without access to the power and hazardous or inaccessible areas.

Composite sensor

This FBG sensor can be made from various types of commonly used composite materials, such as carbon/epoxy, glass/epoxy, etc. 

Universal platform

The strain sensor can also be used in combination with other sensors, such as temperature, inclination, vibration, displacement, etc.

Protected as IP68 rated devices

The protection is comparable to the international standard rating of IP68 and guarantees complete dust tightness and protection against the effects of long periods of immersion in water.

Connectivity

The sensors can be used alone or incorporated into a larger sensing network regardless of sensor interconnections.

Stress analysis

The embedded composite patch sensors are very good tools for improving the stress analysis of the composite structure and accuracy of extrapolations.

Immune to EMI/RFI

The fiber optic sensor enables operation even in harsh environments and hazardous areas. The advantage is  immunity to electromagnetic/radio frequency interference.

Embedded monitoring

This fiber optic sensor is designed to be embedded into the composite structure between the layers. The sensor enables monitoring of bonded layers, curing procedure and their behavior during the service.

Optional accessories

The strain sensor can be delivered with additional optional accessories, such as fiber protection, customized size, connectors, etc.
